Foster Troutman, a charming polygamist, causes an uproar at the firm over Becker and Markowitz's tax audit case of him and his 11 wives, and he offers Markowtiz a new sexual maneuver on pleasing a woman while Becker is attracted to his lawyer, Lynette Pierce. Meanwhile, Grace faces the difficult task of prosecuting Christopher Appleton, a gay man afflicted with AIDS, who's accused of the mercy killing his similarly infected lover. Abby faces an agonizing ordeal with Kelsey in search for her son when she receives news of an battered anonymous child's death. The other partners quarrel over who will get Chaney's desirable office, and with a coin toss, Markowitz wins.

Justice Swerved

Victor is co-counsel in defending a woman accused, along with her husband, of murdering their intellectually disabled newborn baby and who claim it was the result of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Meanwhile, Markowitz is arrested for drunk driving while on his way to a lunchtime tryst with Kelsey. At McKenzie's suggestion, Brackman starts seeing a sex therapist, named Marilyn Hopkins, to revise his non-existent sex life.

Rosalind Shays returns with an equally ruthless and manipulative lawyer, Jack Sollers, to sue the firm for sexual discrimination. Markowitz suffers a heart attack during the trial and is put on leave. Meanwhile, Kuzak faces Darron Holloway, an angry, civil-rights black activist inciting the press and the public while he takes the case of defending Brian Chisolm, a white policeman accused of shooting a black youth. Also, Roxanne has more problems with her father, Murray, when she tells him that he has Alzheimer's Disease.

Melina Paros, the Greek-born City Attorney, joins the firm as an associate. But she has one last case to finish which involves the prosecution of an accused abusive mother against her newborn baby. The unbalanced Markowitz loses control of reality completely when he pulls his gun on a dog pound owner while trying to help Benny find his runaway dog Lincoln. Meanwhile, Becker gets more deeply involved in the intrigue for control of World Wide Studios which involves Flicker and his mysterious silent partner, Eric Schuller, who's crippled wife Beatrice Schuller is the apparent heir to the studio. Brackman loses his pocket watch and acquires an unlikely writing partner when one of the convicts he met in jail turns up. Gwen receives more of the mysterious gifts and suspects Morales is behind it since all of the gifts are from children's nursery books that he keeps for his infant daughter. Also, Mullaney sees Roxanne in a new light.
