Up and coming singer Tammy Wynette gets a big break when she’s asked to open for her idol, country legend George Jones. The two have an immediate romantic connection and undeniable musical chemistry, but their would-be pairing faces a major obstacle: Tammy’s husband Don Chapel.
Running away together turns out to be more difficult than George and Tammy imagined, with Tammy’s past threatening to derail their hopes for marriage, and with George’s past standing in the way of their future as a recording duo.
Post-divorce, Tammy finds herself at the top of the charts, while George finds himself at the bottom of a glass.
